Twin Ports Mask Brigade started up as a volunteer-led community response to the PPE shortage at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. With your help, we have collected over 2,400 masks from over 50 people and distributed all of them to approximately 60 facilities and organizations in the Northland since mid-March, 2020.
While the current health crisis is far from over, we feel our volunteer efforts have become obsolete thanks to increased awareness and the availability of masks. We are so proud of our community for responding with selflessness and compassion in the face of this recent challenge.
If you are hoping to make a mask donation in the Duluth-Superior area, we encourage you to explore the links below:
Duluth NAACP – email firstname.lastname@example.org to donate supplies – NAACP hosts a bi-monthly Free Mask Distribution event in various neighborhoods across the Northland. Due to COVID-19 disproportionately affecting BIPOC individuals and income disparities preventing families from acquiring face masks, prioritization will be given to members of BIPOC communities.
Land of 10,000 Masks – St. Lukes and Essentia partner to collect donated masks to be used by healthcare workers, patients and visitors.
Hannah Johnson Fabrics – A great local resource for fabric, elastic and other mask-making supplies! Also accepting cloth mask donations via a no-touch drop-box outside the front door.
